Barbarian – Tank
1. Stat Distribution
The VIT Tank distributes points in two phases. Every 2 levels you gain 10 stat points (5 per level):
| Phase | STR | DEX | VIT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | +6 | +1 | +3 |
| Phase 2 | +7 | — | +3 |
Phase 1 — until DEX 62 is reached (around Lv.100+). DEX 62 fulfills the requirement for the R9 Poleaxe (DEX 60) and Lv.105 Heavy Armor (DEX 62). Phase 2 — no more DEX after that, everything into STR and VIT.
Watch gear requirements: STR is not freely chosen — always set exactly as much as your current gear demands. Put the rest into VIT.
HP Formula: Barbarian gains ~18–20 HP per VIT point in Tiger Form (with True Form Buff). Target HP at Lv.105: 30,000–40,000+ with good gear.
2. Skill Priority
As a tank you live in Tiger Form. Human Form only briefly for buffs.
Tiger Form Skills
| Prio | Skill | Level | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Flesh Ream | Max | Primary aggro skill. 100% accurate, stackable bleed damage. SPAM it. |
| S | True Form | Lv.2+ | +20% max HP and +30% movement speed. The HP boost is essential for tanking. |
| S | ShapeShifting Intensify | Max | Passive: +60% phys. Def in Tiger Form (Sage: always 120%). Most important defensive passive. |
| S | Roar | Max | AoE aggro reset on all mobs within 12m. 60s cooldown — only use during multi-mob chaos. |
| A | Alacrity of the Beast | Lv.7 | Only Barb interrupt. Interrupts boss channeling instantly. Lv.7 is enough for the cooldown. |
| A | Devour | Max | -50% phys. Def of the target. Only use when you already have aggro. Amplifies Flesh Ream. |
| A | Invoke the Spirit | Lv.1 | 2 Sparks: 90% damage reduction for 20s. Lv.1 is enough. Emergency button. |
| A | Sunder | Lv.5+ | 2 Sparks: damage + heals 2100 HP over 30s. Available from Lv.59 — HP sustain. |
| B | Frighten | Lv.1–5 | AoE phys. attack debuff + free chi gain. Great for multi-mob pulls. |
| B | Surf Impact | Lv.5+ | Slows mobs. Chi gain between Flesh Ream casts. |
| B | Bestial Rage | Lv.1 | Keep active at all times! +Chi per hit, magic absorption below 50% HP. |
Human Form Buffs (immer aktiv halten!)
| S | Beast King's Inspiration | Max | Party buff: +30% max HP for all. Sage: 1h duration. Always keep active! |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Axe & Hammer Mastery | Max | Passive: +100% weapon damage bonus. Mandatory, max as soon as possible. |
| A | Strength of the Titans | Max | Increases own attack. Helps hold aggro when DDs are strong. |
| A | Blood Bath | Lv.5+ | +200% hit rate for -16% max HP. If you miss often: essential. Demon: +300%. |
3. Aggro & Rotation
Rule #1: Flesh Ream is your bread and butter. Spam it. Always. The other skills fill the cooldown gaps and generate chi.
SINGLE TARGET BOSS:
Bestial Rage → Devour → Flesh Ream → Surf Impact → Alacrity → Flesh Ream → Devour → ↺
MULTI-MOB PULL:
Roar → Frighten → Flesh Ream → Surf Impact
Devour trap: Devour only increases aggro if you are already the mob's target. If the mob is attacking someone else → Flesh Ream first, then Devour.
4. Interrupt Guide
As a tank barb you are the only person in the group with a reliable interrupt. Knowing when a mob channels and when you must interrupt is one of the most important tanking skills.
How do you recognize channeling? The mob briefly stops auto-attacking and a channeling animation begins — often a glow on the body, a raised arm, or a color change. Some bosses have a visible channeling bar above their head. Over time you will memorize every boss's pattern.
Barbarian Interrupt Skills
| Type | Skill | Form | Effect & Timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alacrity of the Beast | Tiger | Only direct Barb interrupt. Interrupts channeling immediately (50% freeze chance). Sage: stronger. Demon: shorter cooldown. Lv.7 recommended. | |
| Lightning Chaser (Genie) | Genie | Backup interrupt via Genie. Use when Alacrity is on cooldown or missed. Specifically available for Barbs/BMs. |
Timing tip: Bosses have fixed attack patterns. If you tank a boss often, you learn when it channels without seeing the animation. Some bosses channel after a certain number of auto-attacks — count them!
Don't always interrupt! Some boss skills are not channeling but just a long attack animation — Alacrity would only waste your cooldown. Learn the difference.
5. Dungeons & Interrupt Table
Here you can find which bosses/mobs in which dungeons need to be interrupted, what they cast and how to recognize it.
FB — Friendsboss Dungeons (FB19, FB29, FB39, FB51, FB59, FB69, FB79, FB89, FB99)
| Dungeon / Boss | What is being cast? | Recognition cue | Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| FB19 – Qingzi | AoE Lightning Damages the whole group | Brief pause in auto-attack + glow | ★★ Interrupt if possible |

| Dragon Quest (DQ) Daily Dungeon | Various Skills Varies per DQ boss | Channeling bar if present | ★★ Situational |
| Nirvana Palace Gear Farm Dungeon | AoE Magic Massive magic damage | Energy build-up animation on boss | ★★★ Important! |
Rule of thumb: When tanking a new dungeon — watch the boss for the first 10 seconds before you start spamming Flesh Ream. Learn its pattern. After 2-3 runs you will know exactly when to press Alacrity.
6. Sage or Demon?
For a pure PvE VIT tank there is a clear recommendation — but both have their place:
- SAGE — Recommended for pure PvE Tanks · True Form: always +40% max HP · ShapeShifting Intensify: always 120% phys Def · BKI: 1h duration instead of 30 min · Alacrity: stronger interrupt effect · Flesh Ream: only 15 chi cost · Higher overall survivability
- DEMON — ~ Good for tank with more damage · Flesh Ream: 2.5s cooldown (better aggro) · Alacrity: shorter cooldown (more interrupts) · Bestial Rage: 20 chi per hit (OP) · Blood Bath: +300% Accuracy · More damage → easier to hold aggro · Devour: lasts longer
- DEMON — ~ Good for tank with more damage · Flesh Ream: 2.5s cooldown (better aggro) · Alacrity: shorter cooldown (more interrupts) · Bestial Rage: 20 chi per hit (OP) · Blood Bath: +300% Accuracy · More damage → easier to hold aggro · Devour: lasts longer
Conclusion: Sage = more HP and Def, more reliable interrupt effect. Demon = more damage, more frequent interrupts due to shorter cooldown. For a pure PvE Tank: Sage. For a tank who also DDs: Demon.
7. Genie Setup
A STR Genie is the best choice for VIT tanks — STR-based skills (Solid Shield, Tree of Protection) benefit from your high STR values.
- MUST HAVE — Tree of Protection · HoT + HP boost. Scales with STR. Perfect combo: ToP → wait 2s → Armageddon → no charm tick.
- MUST HAVE — Solid Shield · 60% damage reduction. Mini-Invoke. Lifesaver on hard boss hits when Invoke is on cooldown.
- MUST HAVE — Cloud Eruption · Instantly gives 1 Spark + Chi. Saves aggro when chi is empty and Flesh Ream is on cooldown.
- GOOD — Lightning Chaser · Backup interrupt when Alacrity is on cooldown. Specifically for Barbs/BMs — highly recommended for serious tanks!
- GOOD — Alpha Male · Forces aggro from one target. Great for Rebirth and dungeons where DDs are very strong.
- GOOD — Absolute Domain · ~2s invulnerability. OH-SHIT button when Invoke is on cooldown and HP is critical.
- OPTIONAL — Holy Path · Maximum movement speed. Useful for fast pulls and running between bosses.

8. Gear Progression
As a VIT tank always use Heavy Armor. Magic Defense jewelry (rings, necklace, belt) to compensate for Heavy Armor's weakness against magic.
EARLY GAME · Lv.1–59
| Armor | Quest Gear / NPC Gear · Heavy Armor | Check STR & VIT requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Dual Axes or Poleaxe · Quest Reward | Meet STR requirement, rest into VIT |
| Gems | Citrine (HP) in armor · Amber in weapon | HP > everything else for tanks |
MID GAME · Lv.60–99
| Armor | TT60 → TT70 → TT80 → TT90 Heavy Armor | TT90 Gold: goal before Nirvana/R8 |
|---|---|---|
| Jewelry | Magic Def Rings · LingYun Sets | Heavy Armor has little MagDef — compensate! |
| Weapon | TT Poleaxe or Dual Axes | Poleaxe: more range, great for pulls |
| Refine | At least +1 on every piece (HP bonus) | +2 to +4 is a good goal |
END GAME · Lv.100–105
| Armor | Nirvana / R8 / R9 Heavy Armor | R9 Third Cast: the ultimate goal |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | R9 Poleaxe (DEX 60 required!) | Reason why DEX is skilled to 60/62 |
| Gems | Citrine (HP) in armor · Garnet (MagDef) optional | HP gems make you stronger all-round |
| Tome | Emperor → Necronomicon (Goblin Miner) | Evolved-specific: Necronomicon = Endgame |
9. Pro Tips
Tiger Form = your home: Only briefly switch to Human Form for buffs. ShapeShifting Intensify and True Form give you massively more HP and Def in Tiger Form — these bonuses disappear in Human Form.
Alacrity timing: Bosses have fixed attack patterns. When a boss stops auto-attacking and a cast aura appears → Alacrity immediately. Practice makes perfect. Some bosses have no visible aura — still learn the timing pattern.
ToP + Armageddon combo: Activate Tree of Protection → wait 2 seconds → Armageddon. When ToP expires you are at full HP, Arma has not triggered a charm tick. Only works with sufficient HP.
Magic bosses — MagDef jewelry: Heavy Armor naturally has little MagDef. Fill all jewelry slots with elemental ornaments. Only this way can you tank magic bosses without getting one-shotted.
Do NOT level Untamed Wrath! The Lv.79 Human skill forces you into Human Form — you immediately lose HP and PhysDef. Do not use while tanking.
Communicate with your group: Tell your DDs: "Wait until I've done Roar + 2x Flesh Ream before you attack." That is the most important rule. An archer who wants to crit immediately is your worst enemy as a fresh tank.
